Malaysia, Asia

Malaysia, Asia

Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy located in Southeast Asia.  It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories and has a total landmass of 330,803 square kilometres (127,720 sq mi) separated by the South China Sea into two similarly sized regions, Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia (Malaysian Borneo). Peninsular Malaysia shares a land and maritime border with Thailand and maritime borders with Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia. East Malaysia shares land and maritime borders with Brunei and Indonesia and a maritime border with the Philippines and Vietnam. The capital city is Kuala Lumpur , while Putrajaya is the seat of the federal government. With a population of over 30 million, Malaysia is the fourty fourth most popular country. The southernmost point of continental Eurasia, Tanjung Piai, is in Malaysia. Located in the tropics, Malaysia is one of seventeen megadiverse countries on earth, with large numbers of endemic species.

Sports & nature

Sports & naturePopular sports in Malaysia include association football, badminton, field hockey, bowls, tennis, squash, martial arts, horse riding, sailing, and skate boarding.[188] Football is the most popular sport in Malaysia and the country is currently studying the possibility of bidding as a joint host for 2034 FIFA World Cup.[268][269] Badminton matches attract thousands of spectators, and since 1948 Malaysia has been one of four countries to hold the Thomas Cup, the world team championship trophy of men's badminton. The local climate is equatorial and characterised by the annual southwest (April to October) and northeast (October to February) monsoons.[128] The temperature is moderated by the presence of the surrounding oceans.[125] Humidity is usually high, and the average annual rainfall is 250 cm (98 in).[128] The climates of the Peninsula and the East differ, as the climate on the peninsula is directly affected by wind from the mainland, as opposed to the more maritime weather of the East. Local climates can be divided into three regions, highland, lowland, and coastal. Climate change is likely to affect sea levels and rainfall, increasing flood risks and leading to droughts.

Nightlife info

Nightlife infoIt remains the best-kept secret that Malaysia has a world-class effervescent and exciting nightlife jam-packed with flamboyant personalities and gorgeous women. With trendy bistros and hip clubs constantly revamping to keep up with demand, Malaysia’s nightlife continues to successfully fan the flames of the masses year after year. It goes without saying that the best place to groove in Malaysia is the booming metropolis of Kuala Lumpur – the heart of the city. With plenty of entertainment options that range from sedate pubs, sophisticated clubs and trendy bistros, Kuala Lumpur easily satisfies its culturally diverse clientele.

Culture and history info

Culture and history infoThe culture of Malaysia draws on the varied cultures of the different people of Malaysia. The first people to live in the area were indigenous tribes that still remain; they were followed by the Malays, who moved there from mainland Asia in ancient times. Chinese and Indian cultural influences made their mark when trade began with those countries, and increased with immigration to Malaysia. Other cultures that heavily influenced that of Malaysia include Persian, Arabic, and British. The many different ethnicities that currently exist in Malaysia have their own unique and distinctive cultural identities, with some crossover. Evidence of modern human habitation in Malaysia dates back 40,000 years.[33] In the Malay Peninsula, the first inhabitants are thought to be Negritos.[34] Traders and settlers from India and China arrived as early as the first century AD, establishing trading ports and coastal towns in the second and third centuries. Their presence resulted in strong Indian and Chinese influences on the local cultures, and the people of the Malay Peninsula adopted the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism. Sanskrit inscriptions appear as early as the fourth or fifth century.
